Sock knitting can be intimidating to many, but this class series will break down the steps for getting the perfect fit on a pair of handknit socks to easy, manageable pieces! Join us for a 3 day series where we will learn the fundamentals of toe-up sock construction including but not limited to: increasing for the toe, knitting the foot pattern, increasing for the gusset, turning the heel, and finishing up with a nice neat ribbing pattern at the top!
This class is meant for those who know the basics of knitting already – you must have a knowledge of both the knit and purl stitches before joining this class.
Students will need to provide some of their own materials as each student will have their own preference for sock yarn colors! Materials list to be provided in an email upon purchasing the class ticket.
Class to take place over 3 separate days:
October 6, 2022 – Cast on toe up socks (students will get the choice to cast on one sock or learn how to do to two-at-a-time sock knitting!), increase for the to and begin foot pattern.
October 13, 2022 – Class will cover the basics of increasing for the gusset and turning the heel as well as beginning the leg pattern
**It is highly recommended that you plan to attend the Sip n Stitch on Saturday 10/15 after working on the gusset/heel/and leg.**
October 27, 2022 – Class will cover finishing off your sock(s) with a ribbing pattern and a stretchy bind-off and we will go over the fundamentals of blocking finished knit pieces!
